Christmas Shopping Failures 1: LUSH - SICKLY EATERS

Christmas Shopping Failures 1: LUSH

8:17:00 PM

There's always that one person you know who always gives the best gifts. No matter the occasion you always know that whatever they give you will either be something you've always wanted or something you didn't even know you wanted... but sure as hell do now!

I will be the first to say that I am not that person. But that doesn't mean I don't try! My Christmas shopping usually entails me wandering around the mall searching for some sort of affordable inspiration.
So, Tuesday afternoon found me walking aimlessly past stores, concentrating hard on ignoring  the stupid hair product salespeople trying to flag me down. Really, all I want to do is yell, "Yeah, uh, I'd like a refund for the 10 dollars I paid you last year to LEAVE ME ALONE." I swear, I have a receipt. But that's another story.

I ended up in LUSH because I believe that everyone deserves a pamper session every now and then. And why not do it with  all-natural, vegan friendly, and animal friendly products?

Now I know most people typically run for the bath bombs, and for good reason, they smell and look amazing. But being a poor college student who lives in a dorm. I'm not too keen on them because A) I realize not everyone has a bathtub and B) they only really last for one use. So what I think is much more worth the money, is soap!

It was so hard to choose because they all smell amazing. But I also really needed to pull in the reigns for the sake of my wallet. Because they are all natural they're obviously a bit pricier than your average soap bar. They average out to around 8$ for a 1/4 lb bar.

The Baked Alaska was probably one of my favorites. It's a seasonal product but the smell is a lot fruitier than any Christmas scent. I was expecting it to smell like an actual baked alaska (dessert). But it's really more of an herby sweet citrus scent, something I'd use year round.

I wanted to find something a little more festive so I quite literally sniffed around some more and found, Yog Nog. Goodness gracious. I had already heard about it but it was all I could do to keep from wanting to lick it. It smells exactly how fudgey hot chocolate tastes. Warm and cozy. I ended up buyinot a bar of this. It'll take some special self control to keep me from using it myself. X.X

I took this picture specifically for my aunts in Taiwan. A lot of my aunts are really concerned with health and natural living which can be pretty hard in a place like Taiwan. One of the things they're most concerned about is the effect of chemically based deodorants which are known to contain chemicals like zinc oxide which could possibly lead to a higher risk of cancer. You all can do your own research, but I know my aunts have very good reasons to see this and say, "Why risk it?"

I was going to continue this post on my second go-to gift category: plants. But seeing as this post seems to have gotten a bit out of hand (i.e. long!) maybe I'll just save it for tomorrow.
