The Sower's Harvest Cafe

FIRST, I must apologize for the quality of these photos... I mean more than usual. I took these from my flip phone... yes, a flip phone. I just wasn't expecting to love this place so much, I was a very bad and unprepared blogger.
A few months ago my favorite haunt, Tea Time, closed down. Ever since then my foodie heart has been searching for a new place to rest my wandering stomach... heh
All joking aside, I think I've found a new love. <3
Sower's Harvest is a cafe run by a Mennonite Family. Their mission is "Naturally healthy cuisine served with a hearty welcome." All of which seemed to be true when I visited their cafe for the first time this weekend.
I only found out about this place from my friend, Caroline, who came to visit and texted me saying she'd found the cutest little cafe. We ended up meeting there instead of bubble tea. When I got there, instead of feeling lost and anxious like I usually do when I wander into new, unknown places filled with people, I felt relaxed and excited.
Perhaps one of my favorite things about SH is the menu. Not just because it's so beautifully written out, but also because of their locally & naturally sourced ingredients and special dietary options. They serve dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegetarian options all across the board.
I ordered a cappuccino and maybe the one thing I think they should be most famous for... their dreamy, fluffy soft-pretzels. Mine was Garlic Parmesan. So. Good. I actually brought back a piece for my friend to try and when he ate it he was like "I have to go there now." It's that good.
Caroline ordered a smoothie, I forgot to ask how it was but I bet it was good, I know they used real fruit in there because I saw them carrying a pineapple out from the back.
Actually, when I ordered my cappuccino, I forgot to order a dairy-free version. I was so worried about having to order another one because they seemed quite busy. But Caroline, being elegantly assertive as ever, asked for me. And they were so, so nice. They immediately made me another one with almond milk and the cashier who served us so warmly before, sympathized with my dairy allergy/eczema woes and made small talk while we waited.
I resolve to try everything in this display box before the end of the semester. It looks so yummy.
When I saw these pretzels, I knew I had to try one. Next time... those cinnamon buns on top.
The layout and design of the place is so warm and homey. It's hard not to want to linger. Any cafe gets bonus points for a bookshelf. Plus extra, if they have cushions and soft things laying around... which they do. :]
The cafe is a bit far from my dorm, but it's captured my heart. I'll be back no doubt. I plan to tell everyone to visit, and let me know when they go. Who knows? You might already find me there.
